Located a scenic 3hr drive from Auckland Kingimoon Cottage and Marlin Maison are set in the stunning splendour of Russell in the Bay of Islands.

Russell
Russell is a haven for those interested in walking, sailing, fishing, swimming, surfing, kayaking, big game fishing, swimming with the dolphins, boat trips to the islands, golf, exploring the local heritage or just relaxing and enjoying the many spectacular beaches or breathtaking views. An ideal base for days out around Northland.

Historic buildings to visit include the rammed earth Catholic Mission “Pompallier” and Christ Church, which still carries the bullet holes from the Maori Wars and if you want to discover Russell’s exciting past call into the museum. You’ll enjoy the colonial architecture, cafés, restaurants and craft galleries of Russell.

You can easily arrange just about any sightseeing, adventure or fishing activities from the Russell waterfront. If you’re planning to do any island or bush hiking, be sure to call into the Department of Conservation Visitor Centre.

For self-drive explorers, take State Highway 11 to Opua and catch the vehicular ferry to Russell or leave State Highway 1 at Whakapara and travel the fully tarsealed scenic coastal route via Oakura.
Also be sure to visit nearby Paihia and Kerikeri. Take a full day to Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga.
 





Waitangi
Truly one of New Zealand’s most historic sites being the place where both Maori and European joined in signing the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. The Treaty House stands proudly amongst a vast peaceful estate. Included is a fully carved Maori Meeting House, one of the largest Maori War Canoes and a superb Visitor Centre and Gallery. This estate is a must see for any visitor interested in New Zealand’s history and culture.

The Waitangi Golf Course provides a wonderful setting with majestic ocean views. And for a closer view of mangrove forests and other coastal environments, take a trek through to Haruru Falls or join a guided kayak tour.
